Burke’s Peerage was founded in 1826 by John Burke, and has become one of Britain’s most indispensable genealogical resources for information about the peerage and gentry of the United Kingdom.

In 1977, Burke’s published “Royal Families of the World, Vols. 1 & 2” which included a large and comprehensive section on the Romanoff dynasty, written by Hugo Vickers and edited by Hugh Montgomery-Massingberd. Burke’s invaluable “Royal Families” confirms that the Russian throne passed to Grand Duke Kirill on the death of Nicholas II, his son, Tsesarevich Alexei, and his brother, Grand Duke Michael. Burke’s further points out that Grand Duke Kirill was succeeded by his son, Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich, and points to his successor, the Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna.
