It was announced in Moscow this morning by the Secretariat of H.I.H. Grand Duke George Mikhailovich that H.S.H. Princess Victoria Romanovna was safely delivered of a daughter, who will be styled H.S.H. Princess Kira-Léonida Georgievna Romanoff.
The princess is named for two members of the House of Romanoff very close to the Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna.
The princess’ first name, Kira, is the same as that of her Great-Grand-Aunt, HI&RH Princess Kira of Prussia, Grand Duchess of Russia, the wife of Prince Louis Ferdinand, Head of the Royal House of Prussia. Grand Duchess Kira was the second daughter of grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich and his wife Grand Duchess Victoria Feodorovna, born a princess of Great Britain and Ireland. Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna was both a favorite aunt and godmother to Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna.
The princess‘s second name, Léonida, Is in honor of her late great-grandmother the Grand Duchess Léonida Georgievna, born HRH Princess Bagration Moukhrani of Georgia.
