On February 16, 2024, the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. The Grand Duchess Maria of Russia, her son and heir, H.I.H. The Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George of Russia, and his spouse, H.S.H. Princess Victoria Romanovna, were received by His Most Eminent Highness The Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes, and of Malta (called the Order of Malta), Fra’ John T. Dunlap, at the Magistral Palace in Rome.

Following tradition, and commemorating the centuries-long history of close relations and cooperation in areas of charity and philanthropy that has existed between the Romanoff dynasty and the Order of Malta (https://imperialhouse.ru/en/interest/interest.html), Grand Duchess Maria of Russia awarded to His Most Eminent Highness the Grand Master the Imperial Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called. The Order of St. Andrew is the highest chivalric order in the Russian Imperial system of honours.

The Grand Master also presented to Her Serene Highness Princess Victoria Romanovna the Cross of the Order of Merit (Order pro Merito Melitensi) of the Sovereign Order.

During the course of the visit to the Magistral Palace, Her Imperial Highness and her family discussed with His Most Eminent Highness various ways to strengthen cooperation between the Imperial House and the Order of Malta with respect to charity and philanthropy.
